Dear John, Greetings, friends. How is your practice? What is seeding, growing, composting? Who and what are you tending to in your community, in yourself? Has any grief arisen over the past two weeks, and are you listening to it? If you’ve strayed, that’s okay… you always have a home in the local peace economy. Come on back again. One way to return… Join us for our next Local Peace Economy Community Call on Wednesday, March 13th at 5:00 PT/8:00 ET. During this call, we’ll be talking about stories - stories of local peace economies in action, and the stories we’re writing with our lives. You can find more information about stories on page 144 of The Local Peace Economy Workbook. If you weren't able to be with us during our last meeting, we hope you can join us this time. You can catch up on our last call here. You can also watch the recording of our introduction to the Local Peace Economy Workbook during our first meeting here. Local Peace Economy Community Calls take place every other Wednesday at 5:00 PT/8:00 ET. Newcomers are always welcome. Stay up to date on all of CODEPINK’s events here. Next Community Call Topic: StoriesStories have so much power. They shape how we relate to each other, ourselves, and the world around us. Humans have been telling stories since we’ve existed on this planet. The war economy tells us a story that isn’t true - that there is not enough for all of us, that we must compete against each other, that we are fundamentally different and at odds. But we can tell another story, an ancient story, that reveals a different reality and makes space for new possibilities for how we live together. What stories have been passed down to you about how we should live? What stories have you embraced? What stories have you rejected? What is the story you want to write with your life? Pivot to PeaceLimitation to Imagination All beautiful and inspiring stories start with imagination. The story that the war economy tells is one of limitation. It doesn’t want us to know and feel our own power or our connection with one another, so it tells us false stories that keep us feeling small and limited. Where in your life do you notice a narrow, limited belief or story? Where are you putting boxes or labels around yourself or others? What practices help you connect with your imagination? When you allow yourself to imagine the future you want to be part of and create for future generations, what do you see, hear, smell, taste, feel? Read more about the pivots to peace here. Inspiration for the JourneyThe local peace economy is all around us. Stories of the local peace economy inspire us and teach us how we can create a culture of peace together. On the Local Peace Economy Wiki, we’ve been gathering stories of local peace economy projects. Check out this story about a project that’s intentionally shifting the narratives we tell about ourselves and our place on this planet.
