Earlier this month, we emailed you about what “community-first” means to our team, about what it means to band together during these trying moments and to fight with a full heart for the greater good.

Over the past nine months on the campaign trail, “community-first” has meant standing up to all efforts to roll back health care; it has meant participating in a diversity of community events and hosting forums to discuss the most critical issues facing Southwest Washingtonians right now.

John, we can assure that this much is certain: Folks in our district are a tough, resourceful bunch -- and we haven’t an ounce of doubt that we’ll handle this moment properly, in unity, with collective strength.

So, as we close out this month, we wanted to reflect on some of the good we’ve created together as we adapt to new realities under coronavirus and continue to pave a path of progress in Southwest Washington.

Online check-ins and forums. For the time being, we’ve moved our campaign from offline to 100% online. Already, Carolyn’s joined a volunteer check-in, a Cyber Coffee with Carolyn, and a Facebook Live Roundtable. Everything we’re doing online is part of our plan to keep our team and voters safe -- and we’re excited to grow our digital offerings over the coming weeks.

A spate of in-person community events with folks from all corners of the district -- from the Willapa Bay Resistance meeting, to Read to Children Day at Washington Elementary School.

Campaigning during this time is not easy, John -- but during any time of crisis, we’re reminded of the importance of reliable leadership. We’re so proud to support someone like Carolyn, who spoke up for our community when her opponent would not, someone who we know will be a real problem-solver in Congress.

Thank you for standing strong with us, John. There’s so much more to come, and we couldn’t imagine a team without you.

Onward!

-- Everyone on Team Long
