Hi team,

Last week, my House colleagues and I passed the third rescue package in response to the coronavirus outbreak. The needs of Upstate New York’s families have always been at the heart of my service, and this bill supports those hit hardest by the ongoing public health crisis: our working families, frontline workers, small business employees, and rural communities.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act will…

  • Put money directly into the pockets of working Americans. Individuals can qualify for a direct payment of $1,200 and couples can qualify for $2,400.
  • Expand unemployment insurance and require plans to cover coronavirus treatment and make testing free.
  • Provide $10 billion in grants to support small businesses and cover expenses accrued during this time.
  • Invest $16 billion in personal protective equipment to keep our medical professionals and first responders on the frontlines safe.
  • Ensure our rural communities, schools, and businesses have access to quality broadband and bolster rural hospitals with $150 billion in aid.

I’m proud that the president has signed this critical legislation and that further relief is on the way to Upstate New York. We’ve put politics aside to get this done, and I will continue to do so in order to keep the families of our district healthy and secure.

Friends, please continue to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe. If we all follow the guidance of medical professionals and protect our communities from this virus, we will beat it. You can find resources and information from the Centers for Disease Control here.

And remember -- we are in this together.

Here for you through it all,

Anthony Brindisi
