At this point, more than 30,000 Palestinians have died as a result of the
Israeli military’s siege on Gaza, with tens of thousands more injured or
missing. On top of that, dozens of innocent people — including infants and
children — are now dying of starvation, with 90% of Gaza experiencing food
insecurity and most aid trucks being blocked from reaching them.
During Thursday’s State of the Union address, President Biden finally
called for at least a six-week ceasefire in Gaza and laid out plans to
build a temporary pier to deliver more aid to those in need.
While this is a positive step in the right direction, we need the
Administration to do more. The only way we can ensure innocent
Palestinians receive the food, water, and other aid they need to survive
is by demanding a permanent ceasefire and pressuring Israeli Prime
Minister Netanyahu to stop blocking aid trucks from entering Gaza.
We need President Biden to do EVERYTHING in his power to end this
humanitarian crisis.
