A new Monmouth poll shows Mark Kelly up 50-44 against his Republican rival, appointed incumbent senator Martha McSally. So Mitch McConnell is fighting back. POLITICO reported this week that McConnell's super PAC is funneling $9.2 million in dark money to prop up McSally.

Mitch knows the high price tag is worth it: Arizona is a state Democrats need to win to take back the Senate. And when Mitch wants something badly, he's not afraid to fight dirty to get it.

His wife, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao steered $80 million in taxpayer-funded grants to Kentucky development projects -- giving Kentucky special access and Mitch a political win. Mitch used "the nuclear option" to lower the Senate threshold so that Neil Gorsuch could be confirmed to the Supreme Court. He even used his power as Senate Majority Leader to force through Trump's federal judicial picks after blocking Merrick Garland and 79 of President Obama's nominees.

If Martha McSally wins, McConnell and Trump keep control of the Senate. They'll ramp up the attacks on immigrants and the Affordable Care Act and do nothing to stop climate change. The restrictions we're seeing on a woman's right to choose will only increase. Voices for science within the government, already fighting to be heard, will be silenced altogether. Now that they know the Senate will acquit Trump of anything, there'll be no limit to the things Trump and Mitch will do in their ever-increasing abuse of power.

Democrat Mark Kelly is running to flip McSally's seat blue and kick this un-elected Trump enabler out of the Senate. He and his wife Gabby Giffords are staunch advocates for common sense gun reform, and Mark will protect the most vulnerable among us by safeguarding Social Security and Medicare. He'll fight to support and expand a woman's right to choose (threatened more than ever by recent attacks in Texas and Ohio). And as an astronaut, he knows the value of leading with evidence and science on vital issues like healthcare and climate change.

Mitch and McSally will do whatever it takes to win -- McSally has been fined for multiple campaign finance violations and has launched attack ads that smear Mark -- a former Navy combat pilot -- as un-American.
