President Biden delivered a powerful and inspiring State of the Union address to Congress this week. He made it clear just how much we have gotten done in the last three years. I could talk about many different parts of his address, but one thing President Biden said stood out to me. 

President Biden explained that over his years of experience in Washington D.C., he learned to "embrace freedom and democracy, a future based on core values that have defined America: Honesty. Decency. Dignity. Equality. To respect everyone. To give everyone a fair shot. To give hate no safe harbor. Other people my age see a different story. The American story of resentment, revenge, and retribution. That's not me. ”

I know from my own experience that the only way we can deliver for America is if we come together and work together. It is clear that right now, the resentment, revenge, and retribution of former president Donald Trump is plaguing our country and dividing us.

America needs us to come together so we can deliver on the issues that American families talk about every night around the kitchen table. We saw in Michigan that when Democrats lead, we can deliver on those issues, from lowering healthcare costs, fixing the roads, protecting our kids, and investing in the future of every Michigander. America is better off when the middle class is better off, and we’re making sure that’s happening in Michigan.

Michigan has proven time and time again that Democrats are leading with the honesty, decency, dignity, equality, and respect that President Biden referenced so that everyone in our great state has a fair shot. It’s time we make sure these ideals are felt by all Americans.

With your support, I am going to work hard all year long to meet with voters across my district and state so we can all come together in November and elect the leaders our country needs to move forward.
