Dear Friend,
Yesterday was a big day for democracy! I was honored to attend the State of the Union to reflect on the progress we’ve made and prepare for the challenges ahead.
I chose to bring a guest that would lift up the voices of Texas women, who too often cannot get the health care they need, including access to abortion, because of Texas’s cruel abortion ban. I invited Dr. Austin Dennard, a Dallas mom who fled Texas to receive an abortion after learning her fetus had a fatal condition.
I am incredibly inspired by Dr. Dennard, an OB-GYN herself who routinely brings babies into the world, for speaking up about her traumatic experience. On democracy’s biggest stage, she stood up for Texans and showed the world how the Texas abortion ban endangers women.
I look forward to another productive year in Congress. I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone, regardless of party, to deliver for Texas and make life better for all Americans.
