Team,
Today marks International Women's Day, a pivotal moment for us to pause and reflect on the strides we've made and the challenges that persist.
Throughout my life, I've witnessed incredible women breaking barriers in every field, from public service to business and beyond. We've celebrated milestones like the record number of women leading Fortune 500 companies and the historic representation of women in Congress, enabling crucial legislation like the Lily Ledbetter Act, the GOALS Act, and the Women's Health Protection Acts to become reality.
Yet, amidst these victories, we face a stark reality: the progress we've fought for is under threat. Extreme candidates are targeting women across the nation, aiming to dismantle the hard-won achievements we've made and setting us back 50 years in terms of women’s reproductive health.
It’s never been more important that we protect access to abortion and all forms of reproductive healthcare, which includes In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments. Unfortunately, extreme officials continue their relentless attacks on these basic rights from state to state and across our country. We must be committed to replacing them with leaders who will move our country forward, not back.
In California, I am deeply proud of our leadership on abortion rights and access to reproductive health care. However, we Californians will not stand idly by while millions of women have their rights stripped away. We must work our hardest to protect women not just in California but across the nation. That is why, in Congress, I am proudly doing all that I can to restore a woman's right to reproductive freedom.
Today, and every day, we must stand vigilant. We cannot afford to be complacent while the rights of women are on the line. Let us honor the resilience and contributions of women worldwide while galvanizing our efforts to protect and advance the rights of women everywhere.
