My Response to the State of the Union
Last night, President Biden addressed the United States on the state of the union. His speech did nothing to assure the American people that he cared about the tragedies happening across our country. Illegal immigration is at an all-time high, and President Biden barely spent one minute on an issue that is the top concern for Americans. As the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, I have been front and center on the border issue. I have listened to many Americans who have been affected personally by the crisis at the Southern border parents who have lost their children to border patrol agents who are completely overrun. This crisis is 100% avoidable, but President Biden continues to blame Republicans and has failed to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his failure to enforce the law.
Bipartisan END FENTANYL Act Passes the House
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bipartisan END FENTANYL Act (S. 206). I was proud to author this bill in the House of Representatives, and I worked hard to get this important legislation passed. As the bill heads to the President’s desk, I am pleased to see Congress working together on an issue affecting all Americans.
It’s time we take a hard stance against the smuggling of this deadly drug. With this legislation, we’re fighting to protect the American people from drug smugglers bringing fentanyl into our communities. I am proud that the END FENTANYL Act is on its way to becoming law. Read more here.
Chatting with the Media
Leading up to the State of the Union, I spoke to the media regarding the address that the President delivered this week.

Read Across America
Earlier this week, Haley and I visited schools in Simpson and Rankin counties for Read Across America Day. I’m thankful for the next generation of young Americans and their desire to learn and grow. Thank you to our teachers who invest in our children’s lives each and every day.
