Folks,
Last night, we heard from President Biden in his State of the Union address, where he laid out his accomplishments and plans for the coming year before both sessions of Congress.
As is customary for members, I was honored to bring a special guest to the State of the Union – Christie Nicas, a parent from PA-07 who was able to start her family through in vitro fertilization (IVF). In my district and across the country, parents like Christie deserve the right to decide when and how they want to start their families.
Since the Dobbs decision, I knew that Republicans’ position that ‘life begins at conception’ would mean further restrictions beyond abortion bans. Long before the Alabama Supreme Court decided to virtually end in vitro fertilization in the state, I was at the forefront of the fight to protect reproductive freedom. I have been leading the charge in Congress to codify the right to IVF treatment through my “Access to Family Building Act.”
While Republican extremists continue to block bills like this, I’ll continue fighting to ensure that women and families across the country have access to fertility treatments to help them start and grow their families.
Now more than ever, we need to elect a pro-choice majority in the House, and that starts with protecting vulnerable seats like mine in PA-07. So, will you join me with a contribution today to keep me in Congress fighting for IVF and protecting reproductive rights?
