Folks,
Last night, President Biden spoke directly to our nation in his State of the Union address. I want to take a moment to share some of my thoughts with you about our progress under Biden and about the work that lies ahead.
Under President Biden and our Democratic Senate majority, we’ve made historic progress for the American people. We lowered prescription drug costs and capped insulin for seniors on Medicare to $35 a month. We created 15 million jobs in just three years. We passed one of the most significant laws ever for veterans – the PACT Act – helping millions of our men and women in uniform access the care they deserve after being exposed to burn pits and other toxins. We also took massive steps to tackle climate change, passing the Inflation Reduction Act – our largest investment in climate policy ever in the United States. Biden signed our $1 trillion infrastructure bill into law, a major achievement for our work to repair the nation’s roads, bridges, railways, and more.
In fact, my guests at last night’s address were small business owners from Louisa Co., who secured broadband for their business thanks to the infrastructure law. It was an honor to have them by my side.
I was proud to see President Biden reiterate our nation’s commitment to democracy and share his vision for further economic growth and technological progress. I was heartened to hear him recommit his promise to restore Roe and protect reproductive health care for women across the country. And I was reassured when he spoke on the urgent need to pass aid to Ukraine and renew American leadership on the global stage.
But frankly, I know full well that these priorities are only possible if we elect Democrats around the country who are committed to these efforts. And with a Trump-Biden rematch and a brutal Senate map this year for Democrats, we’re going to need your help to continue making this historic progress.
That’s why I’m asking you today: Can you stand with me and donate anything you can to answer the call in last night’s State of the Union so my fellow Democrats and I can keep fighting for the American people?
Thank you,
Mark Warner
