Flying is broken. Shrinking seats, chronic delays and cancelations, route closures cutting off smaller cities, high prices, endless fees, and rising safety concerns as plane doors blow away have all become features of a consolidated airline industry where corporations have run roughshod over passengers and the public interest.
Today air travel is essential to connect with each other, conduct business, and build regional economies. And yet, decades of failed deregulation and deliberate policy choices to prioritize the profits of the airline industry have failed consumers, workers, and entire regions across the country while costing taxpayers billions in bailouts. It’s time for policymakers and regulators to take back the controls and make this industry fair, safe, and effective again.
On March 13 at 12:30 pm EST, join us for virtually for our second “Beyond Antitrust” policy talk as we discuss our new whitepaper with Vanderbilt Policy Accelerator on how to regulate air travel in America and address systemic issues with safety and the passenger experience. This policy discussion series aims to dive in to big ideas on how markets can be structured and regulated to be open and fair to all stakeholders.
