Indivisibles,

At last night’s [ [link removed] ]State of the Union Address, President Biden showed that
our strength is in the multi-racial, multi-generational, diverse coalition
of voices that make up the Democratic Party. He reminded us that even in
the face of navigating those healthy differences, on top of unprecedented
MAGA obstruction and dysfunction, Democrats deliver for the American
people. And on a night when MAGA Republicans were rooting for President
Biden to fail -- Biden showed up as the leader we all need in this moment.

Biden has achieved more in the first three years of his presidency than
most presidents have accomplished in two terms -- moving at a breakneck
pace that he intends to continue into his second term. And he had the
receipts to prove it.

Here are a couple highlights:

Abortion

Biden recognized that it is a core plank of the Republican platform to rip
reproductive rights away from the American people. He knows we are under
attack by a small, influential cadre of anti-abortion extremists who hold
outsized sway over MAGA Republicans -- going so far as to begin their
quest to rip away in vitro fertilization in Alabama just a few weeks ago.

But President Biden is committed to bringing reproductive freedom back to
all Americans. He said:

In its decision to overturn Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court majority wrote
“Women are not without electoral or political power.” No kidding. Clearly
those bragging about overturning Roe v. Wade have no clue about the power
of women in America. But they found out when reproductive freedom was on
the ballot and won in 2022, 2023, and they will find out again in 2024. If
Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose I promise
you: I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again.

Prescription Drugs

The president reminded us that, in the face of corporate greed and dark
money special interests, his signature Inflation Reduction Act caps the
out-of-pocket expenses on life-saving drugs, ensures that people with
Medicare pay no more than $35 for a monthly supply of Insulin, and allows
Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices for the first time.

And in a look to a second term, Biden let us know, “now I want to cap
prescription drug costs at $2,000 a year for everyone!”

A Rebounding American Dream

Biden extolled the virtue of the Chips and Science Act “investing more in
research and development than ever” and “creating tens of thousands of
jobs, many of them paying over $100,000 a year and don’t require a college
degree.”

Biden noted that he was the first sitting American president to ever walk
a picket line when he joined the UAW during their strike, cementing his
legacy as a President for working people. In recognition of our strength
and resiliency, he stated:

I came to office determined to get us through one of the toughest periods
in our nation’s history. And we have. It doesn’t make the news, but in
thousands of cities and towns the American people are writing the greatest
comeback story never told.

And those are just a few of the many highlights (if you weren’t watching
last night, [ [link removed] ]watch a recording here or [ [link removed] ]read the transcript here). The
speech touched on mortgage relief, rental prices, education, tax fairness,
shrinkflation, voting rights, and more…

Most importantly, on the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, Biden regrounded us
in the reality of what we’re facing in 2024: a choice between an
expansive, hopeful vision for our country's future, or MAGA's vision of
"resentment, revenge, and retribution", rooted in absolute [ [link removed] ]disdain for
the American people and democracy itself.

There’s no denying it after this week -- Donald Trump is the Republican
presidential nominee, and the choice we face this November is clear. The
choice is between reproductive freedom or [ [link removed] ]sexual abuse, between closing
tax loopholes or [ [link removed] ]fraud, between a president committed to free and fair
elections and one who would [ [link removed] ]attempt an insurrection.

If you see the choice as clearly as we do, here’s how you can help:

* [ [link removed] ]Sign up to defend democracy from Trump with Project 2024: Majority
Over MAGA. Our new electoral program will ensure Indivisibles all
across the country have the opportunity to make a difference in the
highest-priority races this cycle. This will include tactics like
phonebanking, postcarding, and direct-to-voter texting along with our
groundbreaking community conversation strategy: Neighbor2Neighbor.
Sign up to be the first to know when we launch our tools in your area.
* [ [link removed] ]If you are able, chip in to our efforts to defeat Trump.
Phonebanks, postcards, texting, and door-knocking all cost money. We
are working 24/7 this year to ensure that the thought of another Trump
presidency turns out just to be a nightmare and not reality. But
unlike MAGA and its dark money backing, we are powered by small-dollar
donations from people like you. Chip in today.

As President Biden said last night, “my lifetime has taught me to embrace
freedom and democracy. A future based on the core values that have defined
America: honesty, decency, dignity, equality. To respect everyone. To give
everyone a fair shot.”

Now is the time to come together as a people to defend those ideals.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
