Happy International Women's Day! So many important LGBTQ+ milestones were achieved because of the hard work of LGBTQ+ women – and it’s important we keep their legacies alive.
Right now, Victory Institute is making big investments to locate, train and support more LGBTQ+ women as they think about running for office. We are working hard to ensure that all of our programs are inclusive of cis and trans women, that our Candidate & Campaign Trainings achieve gender parity and that our Victory Empowerment Fellowship for LGBTQ+ leaders of color and trans leaders keeps running smoothly. Closing the representation gap won't be easy, but we're making progress. Only 501 LGBTQ+ women are currently serving in U.S. elected offices - and only 38 out trans women are holding elected office.
