John,
President Biden knows what matters to the American people. He talked about it last night in his State of the Union address and will keep talking about it on the campaign trail for the next eight months.
Donald Trump doesn’t have a clue, and voters know it. Recent polling shows that 56% of voters think that, if elected, Trump will “let rich tax cheats run free” and “cut taxes for the rich ahead of the middle class.” Over half think Trump “would cut Social Security or Medicare.”[1]
Looking ahead to November, President Biden used his State of the Union address to demand that rich households and large profitable corporations start paying their fair share in taxes.
He called for Congress to pass his Billionaire Minimum Income Tax to ensure the ultra-wealthy are paying income taxes each year, just like working people do. And he defended Social Security and other key programs against relentless GOP attacks, like the proposed Republican “fiscal commission”, which the White House has called “a death panel for Medicare and Social Security.”[2]
These are the economic and tax policies that speak to the needs and aspirations of the American people. And it’s what Americans for Tax Fairness has been fighting for over the past dozen years!!

[2] White House Calls Proposed GOP Commission a ‘Death Panel’ for Medicare, Social Security
-- David's email --
John,
Sky-high costs on everything from groceries to childcare to healthcare to eldercare are squeezing working families across the country.
The best way to reduce what families pay for vital goods and services is to demand the rich and corporations pay their fair share in taxes, and then invest the resulting revenue in working people and communities. And American voters agree with us.
New polling shows that more than 7 in 10 Americans “support raising taxes on the wealthy and big corporations.”[1]
Tonight, when President Biden addresses the nation in his State of the Union speech, he is widely expected to make this case to the American people:
Biden backs up this call to action with policies such as his Billionaire Minimum Income Tax, which would ensure that households worth $100 million or more are paying taxes on their wealth gains each year, just like working people pay on their wages.
Biden has called for increasing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%. He already succeeded in ensuring billion-dollar corporations are paying a 15% minimum tax rate, so that no large profitable corporations get away with paying $0 in taxes. But there’s more work to do to ensure wealthy corporations are paying their fair share.
We’re fighting for these policies and more, including raising the tax on stock buybacks from 1% to 4% so that corporations that are enriching CEOs and wealthy shareholders instead of investing in workers’ wages are paying their fair share in taxes.
We’re fighting to make millionaires and billionaires pay more of their fair share into Social Security and Medicare.
And, we’re fighting to defend the IRS against GOP attacks, so the IRS can continue to crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats.
