This summer, embark on a historic journey through time with our Youth Summer Camps at the Texas Historical Commission’s state historic sites! Immerse your young historians in a unique blend of education and adventure, where the past comes to life. Our curated camps offer hands-on experience, allowing campers to step back in time and discover the rich heritage of Texas. Select historic sites will become a classroom, fostering a deep appreciation for our state's unique history.
On Saturday, April 20, the San Jacinto Day Celebration, presented by the San Jacinto Museum and the Texas Historical Commission, will be a day of living history activities celebrating the 188th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. Interpreters dressed in period clothing will make the epic events of April 1836 come alive, and reenactments throughout the day will recreate the dramatic events that led to one of the most decisive and impactful military victories in the history of North America.

The Real Places conference in Austin is where ideas and inspiration for preserving Texas history are born. Presented by the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission in partnership with Phoenix I Restoration and Construction, LLC, Real Places 2024 will feature over 60 sessions, workshops, and tours; five keynote presentations; more than 100 expert speakers from across Texas and the U.S.; several fun networking events; and new activities such as the short “lightning sessions.” Join us online or in person, recordings of all the great presentations will be available on-demand during and after the conference.
