As we gear up for tonight's State of the Union address, I find myself reflecting on the past year and the road that lies ahead. It's a pivotal moment for our nation, and I am eager to hear President Biden articulate his vision for our future—a future I believe we can shape together.
In the past year, we faced extremist legislation that further attacked reproductive rights. Kate Cox’s story made headlines across the country after she was forced to travel out of Texas to seek an abortion. Just a few weeks ago, the Alabama Supreme Court went a step further and put in vitro fertilization (IVF) in jeopardy.
We’re now facing a Trump-Biden rematch in November, and the work we do now will determine if we go back to a Trump presidency that laid the foundation for right-wing extremism.
Delivering common-sense solutions for West Michiganders remains my utmost priority. Tonight, I’ll be listening intently, hoping to hear a strong commitment to the issues that remain close to us.
