The Claremont Institute publication "Going Woke in Dixie?" hailed as a turning point in getting bill passed.
MARCH 7, 2024
Dear Friend,
Last year, the Claremont Institute published a bombshell investigative report: Going Woke in Dixie? The Progress of DEI at the University of Alabama & Auburn ([link removed] ) . Like all of our DEI reports ([link removed] ) , we knew the research would cause a splash and, eventually, significant change.
But it was nevertheless a pleasant surprise to learn that anti-DEI legislation had recently passed the Alabama Senate and House and will soon be on the governor’s desk. Once signed into law, SB129 would ban diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in all state institutions. That goes for state agencies and public schools and colleges alike.
As we wait for the good news, I want to share something else. This is from a note a major booster of the Alabama bill sent to a mutual friend: “The Claremont Institute publication ‘Going Woke in Dixie?’ was a turning point in getting this bill passed.”
The acknowledgment of efforts, even if behind the scenes, holds profound meaning for us. At the Claremont Institute, we prioritize quiet hard work over chasing headlines, but we believe it’s worth celebrating in this special case.
The investigative reports authored or co-authored by our senior director of state coalitions, Dr. Scott Yenor, have successfully led to the dismantling of entrenched DEI mafias in Texas, Florida, and Tennessee. Alabama stands as the next milestone on our journey.
As Dr. Yenor stated in The Federalist today, “If We Want Western Civilization To Survive, DEI Cannot ([link removed] ) .” This belief fuels our relentless dedication to our fight.
Together, let’s ensure that Alabama’s stance against DEI serves as a beacon of hope for defending the principles we hold dear.
