john,

Last month, at a campaign rally, Donald Trump told supporters that he would back away from our NATO allies if they don’t pay enough.

Then, he took it a step further and encouraged Vladimir Putin to do whatever he wants to those NATO countries.

john, let me be blunt: Donald Trump is a danger to democracy, both here and overseas. That he’s openly signaling to Putin, a dangerous autocrat, that Russia can invade our European allies without the United States getting involved, is deeply disturbing and worrying.

That’s why I know we need to defeat Trump once and for all. It’s why we need to stand strong alongside our allies in NATO. And it’s why we need to send more support to Ukraine, as they continue to face attacks from the Russian military.

For decades, the United States and other NATO member states have worked hand-in-hand to protect democracy and so much more. This strategic alliance supports our economy and bolsters our own national security. Not to mention, it is most definitely in our interest to protect Ukraine from the Russian invasion.

Trump inflicted serious damage to our partnership with NATO member countries during his first term as president — and I am deeply worried about what he would do if he served in the White House again.

I’m doing everything in my power to keep Trump out of the White House. I’m also calling on Republican leaders in the House of Representatives to put to a vote additional aid for Ukraine — an important ally.

If you support these efforts and believe in standing up for Ukraine and our NATO allies against Trump, please pitch in to my work to elect Democrats. [[link removed]]

Thank you for reading this longer note. Democracy, both here in the United States and abroad, is precious and fragile — we need to protect it.
