We were warned that “Witness,” the eighteen-foot-tall golden goddess glorifying abortion, would go on display at the University of Houston campus.
In response, we launched a petition to stand in opposition to the glorification of millions of dead children. And you responded! The overwhelming support was evident, with nearly 9,000 signatures flooding the administration offices of UH in just three days. Your voices were heard!
Due to the outcry, the administration canceled the official unveiling ceremony and celebration. However, the golden idol still found its place at the heart of the campus, albeit without the planned celebration.
In place of the ceremony, pro-life students organized a peaceful protest, joined by hundreds expressing their outrage at the glorification of abortion on the university campus.
There were dozens of students, faculty members, and alumni taking to the platform to voice their outrage and grief over the glorification of abortion displayed in the double-horned golden image.
CitizenGO was there, standing with them, sharing in national and international support of the rights of students to attend a public university without the bold display supporting abortion. We shared that thousands of CitizenGO members signed petitions on their behalf, which had already flooded the administrative offices.
Students and professors were stunned to hear of your support and were emboldened to know they are not alone and that we are standing with them and for them.
After hours of protest speeches at the pavilion area, we joined the students in a prayer walk to the administration building where “Witness” stands overlooking a large fountain. As I rounded the corner, I could not believe it!
The fountain was blood-red!
I do not cry easily, but when I saw the spectacle, the air was sucked from my lungs, and my heart swelled with anguish! It was as if the blood of millions of babies was bubbled up as a witness against us!
A sharp pain struck me; as a publicly funded university, our money helps pay for this abomination. I was so glad to see it with my eyes and realize that we must do more! “Witness” must come down! It must not be allowed to remain in the public square of a state university!
As the group solemnly left at the close of the evening vigil, the only sound left was the splashing blood-red fountain and the wind whipping our national, state, and university flags flying overhead.
"Witness" is a fitting name for the double-horned golden goddess created to glorify millions of infant deaths. With unmoveable resolve, we must remove this witness from our public square!
