John,
Clarence Thomas is the center of a raft of corruption scandals on the Supreme Court. And even though his wife — Ginni Thomas — actively participated in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election, Clarence Thomas refused to recuse himself from Trump’s ballot case. It’s a crystal clear conflict of interest.
It’s not just Thomas’ refusal to recuse himself, it’s his undisclosed luxury vacations gifted from GOP billionaire mega-donors and his web of connections with right-wing special interest groups — and the rest of the conservatives on the Court have their fair share of corruption scandals too.
It’s time to hold the right-wingers on the Supreme Court accountable. Congress must pass a Supreme Court Ethics Act AND investigate corruption on the Court!
The Court ruled this week that Colorado and other states could NOT bar insurrectionists like Trump from the ballot. But Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution says officials who’ve taken the oath of office and engaged in insurrection are barred from holding office. When Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election results and destroy our democracy, he broke his oath of office. Plain and simple, he shouldn’t be allowed to appear on the ballot as an insurrectionist.
The heavy right-wing slant on the Court is just as apparent as its raft of corruption scandals.
Nearly a year ago, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was exposed for taking 20 years' worth of expensive vacations on yachts and other luxury travel from right-wing billionaire Harlan Crow — all without disclosing anything.
In addition to being a Republican mega-donor, Harlan Crow has also given to corporate politicians like Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin and funded shady right-wing organizations controlled by Ginni Thomas.
Justice Roberts’ impartiality has been called into question too after his wife, Jane Roberts, earned millions in commissions for recruiting attorneys for jobs at law firms, which include firms that have cases before the Supreme Court. Samuel Alito has had international trips funded by right-wing groups. The corruption scandals keep coming.
It’s time for Congress to take an unequivocal stand against conservative Justices who don’t think the law applies to them.
Add your name: Congress must stop corruption on the Supreme Court!
When we organize, we win.
