Hi All
You are invited to join our Teleconference this Saturday, 3/9/24 at 10 AM, for a discussion of this session's legislation.
We will be going over the most important bills that we're watching and get your input and recommendations for Livable California positions.
If you would like to get more involved in the process, we could use some volunteer bill analysis help. Please email [email protected] if you would like to become part of our bill analysis team.
The 2024 legislative session is well underway, 2262 bills were introduced for the 2024 session (Linked here). We've flagged 146 bills to screen (Linked here). Over 60 of those are placeholder "spot" bills without content. Those are requited to be populated with content by March 10.
Hearing are now being scheduled (Linked here). So far, the April 9th hearing are most important to us.
The worst bill so far is SB-951 the California Coastal Act of 1976: coastal zone: City and County of San Francisco by Scott Wiener, of course. This is the next step in his campaign to undermine the Coastal Act to encourage luxury housing on our precious coast - think Miami Beach. The Coastal Commission has voted to oppose SB 951 unless it's amended to remove sections 1 and 2. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has also adopted a resolution to oppose it. We suggest you begin preparing your opposition letter to submit through the position letter portal. We'll let you know when the bill is assigned to a policy committee.
There are many resources here for you to use throughout the session.
Please donate here to keep us going throughout the legislative session.
We need $3100 to cover this month's bills :(

Our target is to have enough monthly contributors to sustain us so we don't have to continuously ask you for donations. And we don't want to have a required membership fee like many other organizations. Just 140 people contributing $25 / month would sustain us. If you can be one of those 140 people, please donate here.
