Tuesday night showed that Young Democrats are changing the landscape
in our state—and now I’m asking for your support to keep fighting.

Friend,

A few months ago, I made a promise to you. A PROMISE THAT OUR
ORGANIZATION WOULD BE AT THE FRONT LINES OF ACCOUNTABILITY FOR OUR
ELECTED OFFICIALS—INCLUDING BAD FAITH ELECTED DEMOCRATS. With your
support, we made the bold decision to bring our organization into a
new era, involving ourselves in our party’s primary process for the
first time.

I’ll be honest: I was a little nervous when we made that decision
together. I’ve never been afraid to make good trouble, but I knew
that not everyone would understand our decision or receive it well.
We’ve been told to shut up, to sit down, and to give up, but we
persevered. Together, we took the plunge, made big choices, and
worked like hell to make our state a better place.

AND FRIEND, I AM SO PROUD TO TELL YOU THAT WE MADE A DIFFERENCE.

Six of our seven statewide endorsed candidates made it through their
primaries and will be our general election nominees, and through the
work we did, we held legislative Democrats accountable all across the
state. RODNEY PIERCE WILL BE A MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATURE IN NO SMALL
PART BECAUSE OF THE EFFORTS OF YOUNG DEMOCRATS, and although Cecil
Brockman held on in HD-60, perhaps his narrow margin of less than 100
votes will be cause for reflection regarding his voting record.

Though we did not succeed in every race, it is my sincere hope that
those who rely on the Democratic Party’s name for electoral success
will think twice in the future before betraying the values of the
party they claim to represent. WE HAVE MUCH WORK TO DO GOING FORWARD,
BUT LAST NIGHT WAS A WARNING SHOT ACROSS THE BOW TO ALL WHO DOUBT OUR
WORK ETHIC, OUR ABILITY TO MAKE CHANGE, AND OUR COMMITMENT TO SEEING
OUR PARTY LIVE ITS VALUES.

Now, our focus turns to the work ahead: supporting every Democrat up
and down the ballot in November. On Tuesday, we showed this state the
power that Young Democrats have, and in eight months, the work and
support of young people will be what brings Joe Biden, Josh Stein, and
Democrats from Congress to school board across the finish line.

THE BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF NORTH CAROLINA BEGINS TODAY. I AM COMING TO
YOU HUMBLY AND WITH OPEN ARMS: CAN I COUNT ON YOU TO CONTRIBUTE $25,
$50, OR ANYTHING YOU CAN AFFORD TO ENSURE WE HAVE THE RESOURCES WE
NEED TO FIGHT AND WIN? [2]
