Recent events have underscored the severity of the challenges we face. It's more important than ever that we mobilize as never before to protect and advance our rights. Your role as a key supporter in this battle against the right-wing extremists and their War on Women is key. 

That’s why 5 days ago we sent you a letter by postal mail - and why we’re also rushing this summary to you by email.

Quite frankly, we want to make sure we can once again count on you. More than most, you understand the extremists are hell-bent on insuring that women continue to be defined and treated as second-class citizens. 

You Can Count On Me in 2024!

Whether it’s reproductive health care for younger women or financial equality and retirement security for older women, their goal is the same: keep women down.

Banning Abortion is Just the Start

In just a brief 19-day period in late January, we've witnessed alarming moves against women's autonomy and health care rights:

• The Supreme Court's decision to hear a case challenging necessary emergency medical care for women, alongside allowing a near-total abortion ban in Idaho.
• Startling research from the Journal of the American Medical Association, revealing the grim reality of pregnancy resulting from rape in states with total abortion bans. A shocking 26,313 in Texas alone. A number that underscores the extremists’ horrific agenda that risks women's lives and well-being.
• The Alabama Supreme Court’s decision that outlawed IVF and signals that the extremists will try to criminalize and ban the procedure nationwide.

These are not isolated incidents. They’re part of a broader, concerted effort by MAGA Republicans to undermine women's rights, from banning abortion to attacking access to contraception and reproductive health care.

Their agenda extends to criminalizing healthcare professionals and restricting personal freedoms in ways that were unimaginable just a few years ago.

Our Role and Responsibility

As members of the Feminist Majority community, each of us must do everything in our power to alert and inform our friends of the imminent danger at hand and take every step we can to bring this War on Women to a victorious end through the elections of 2024.

3 CRITICAL GOALS OF OUR 2024 MOBILIZATION

1. Defeating Extremists at the Ballot Box: Mobilizing young voters in key swing states to ensure victories that protect women's rights.
2. Eliminating State Laws Banning Abortion: Working to pass state constitutional ballot measures that safeguard reproductive rights.
3. Place the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the U.S. Constitution: The ERA has already been ratified by the required 3/4^th’s of the states as the 28^th Amendment. A simple Congressional Resolution is now pending before both the Senate and House, and when passed it will pave the way for enshrining the ERA in the Constitution.

REMEMBER:  It is the ERA—and only the ERA—that can ensure lasting protection against sex discrimination. The most permanent form of protection possible.

Can We Really Do All This?

We can, but only with your help at this critical state.   

Our history of successful mobilization, from groundbreaking campus organizing producing pivotal election victories in battleground states-- in 2019, 2020, 2022 and again in 2023 --to getting the ERA so close to being enshrined in the Constitution illustrates the power of our collective action.

The Feminist Majority has been at the forefront of these efforts, proving time and again that when we join forces, we can achieve the "impossible."

The stakes have never been higher. The attacks on our rights are not just a threat to women but to the very fabric of our democracy. It's time to mobilize, to stand up for what we believe in, and to fight for a future where women's rights are protected and respected.

The Strength of our Intergenerational Strategy

As one of our most loyal and dedicated friends of the Feminist Majority, you understand the importance of an issue close to our hearts:  the importance of engaging young voters and how this aligns with the interests and values of caring folks like you who have long championed women’s rights.

The fight for the ERA is not just a battle for the rights of younger women. It’s crucial for securing a fair and just future for women of all ages. For younger women, the ERA is a beacon of hope in safeguarding their reproductive rights and ensuring they have control not only over their bodies but also their futures.

For older women, the ERA holds the promise of equalizing our lifetime earnings and the benefits of Social Security. This is a matter of paramount importance as we navigate the later stages of life. In so many ways the ERA is about creating a future where older women are not penalized simply because of their gender, ensuring financial stability and dignity in retirement.

Now is the time to seize the moment. To win back, advance and protect all our rights in 2024. Our strategy is clear and doable. The likelihood we will win is high. But we must be prepared. And that means each of us doing our part.
