Great News: Miami Seaquarium Told to Surrender Property
Hello Friend,
We couldn’t wait to share the news with you that Miami Seaquarium is close to shutting down!
Miami-Dade County Mayor Danielle Levine Cava announced this morning that the troubled Miami Seaquarium has a matter of weeks to vacate its county-owned property. The announcement follows decades of animal deaths and abuse. More than 117 dolphins and whales have died since the aquarium opened its doors.
This momentous step forward is thanks to the countless advocates who have signed petitions, sent letters, and protested outside the Seaquarium’s doors for more than a decade.
We’re in communication with the county to offer our support for several of the animals still trapped at the Seaquarium and will update you as we get more information.
Thank you for your advocacy!
Sincerely,
Liz Cabrera Holtz
