Join Game and Parks' virtual fisheries discussion

Hear updates on fishing in your area and interact with Game and Parks fisheries staff during virtual meetings March 18-21.

These four regional public informational sessions ? one for each Game and Parks Fisheries district ? will provide local updates on the fishing outlook and special projects near you.

These meetings are informal and interactive, with the chance for questions, dialogue and feedback. All meetings will be hosted through Zoom.

Panhandle parks receiving upgrades

Visitors will enjoy more than $1 million of recent upgrades to state park and recreation areas in the Panhandle this summer. Enjoy expanded equestrian camping at Fort Robinson, upgraded campsites at Chadron State Park and much more.

New restaurant to open at Mahoney State Park

Soon, visitors to Eugene T. Mahoney State Park will be able to stop in at Peter Kiewit Lodge to enjoy food and beverages. Carl's at Mahoney, the park's new restaurant service, will open later this month. Service will begin March 15-17 with a convenient Grab and Go format.

Fishing pier to be built at Two Rivers Trout Lake

A fishing pier is being built at the Two Rivers State Recreation Area Lake No. 5 (Trout Lake). Stay tuned for news about a dedication taking place later this spring. To keep the public safe, the construction area will be fenced off before the March 9 opening of the trout lake.

Call ahead to check on fire bans at state parks

Some Nebraska state park and wildlife management areas are temporarily banning campfires as drought and wind conditions have triggered extreme fire danger. Before your visit, call the park to check on whether a fire ban is in effect, since conditions change frequently.

Good news for young artists: The deadline has been extended for the Nebraska Fish Art Contest, and new activities are available for participants. The new deadline is March 31, 2024.
