March is Women’s History Month, and I’m proud to celebrate how far we’ve come here in Rhode Island and across the nation in the long march towards equal rights. At the same time, we must also recognize how much work we still must do to achieve gender equality. We’ve got to address the gender pay gap, ensure women are represented in our economic and political institutions, and fight back against right-wing extremists trying to turn back the clock of history.
I’ve always been a proud supporter of women’s rights, but the Supreme Court’s disastrous Dobbs decision in 2022 marked a huge step backwards and requires federal action to correct this terrible mistake.
