"We, the girls, are the light of the world." - Kuji,* Sierra Leone, shown here with her cousin Kpemeh*

Today's girls are tomorrow's leaders. As we prepare to celebrate International Women's Day tomorrow, we're sharing the inspiring stories of women and girls who have overcome barriers to live their dreams.

On Tuesday, we shared Kpemeh's* story of escaping child marriage. Now, we'd like you to meet Kuji,* her cousin and the advocate who helped her.

Kuji was just 15 when she became pregnant with her son. Determined not to let it stop her education, she took on manual labor jobs to pay for school.

Through our Ending Child Marriage project, Kuji became an advocate against child marriage in her community. She successfully helped her cousin Kpemeh avoid child marriage by reporting it to the village chief. Now, both girls are continuing their education and working to end early marriage together.

"I have the power to speak to my fellow girls about pregnancy and early marriage to put an end to it." - Kuji

Each year, around 12 million girls are married - by the time you finish reading this sentence, another girl under 18 will have been forced to marry.

But by empowering girls like Kuji and Kpemeh to resist and become agents of change in their communities, we can protect more girls from early marriage, keep them in school and protect them from harm.

Your support makes our fight for gender equality and everything we do to support children around the world possible. Ahead of International Women's Day tomorrow, please donate to help girls, and all children, get the support they need to grow up healthy, learning and safe.
