John –
In March last year, a gunman with an assault weapon senselessly murdered 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Six days after this horrific mass shooting, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern took immediate action and announced a ban on military-style assault weapons.
Today, we honor the victims of the Christchurch massacre. And we salute Prime Minister Ardern’s swift leadership to save lives. In the United States, we had 418 mass shootings in 2019 alone. Yet how many gun reform bills has Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell passed? None. Zero.
Imagine how many lives we could save if the NRA didn’t pay off Mitch McConnell to let gun safety bills die in his “legislative graveyard.” Imagine if the leaders of our country took courageous action in the face of tragedy. Imagine the countless people who wouldn’t be gun violence survivors. Imagine the children and loved ones who would still be here today.
Our country deserves better, John, which is why we must defeat NRA puppets like Mitch McConnell and elect gun safety champions. As we craft that strategy, we need input from grassroots supporters like you. Tell us before midnight:
Do you think we should ban assault weapons?

One year after the Christchurch massacre, we remember what fearless political leadership can do, John. It’s time we create the change we so desperately need before it’s too late.
