No child should go hungry during the school day. But millions of children
across the country live in food-insecure households and struggle with
hunger.
Hunger negatively impacts students’ mental and physical health as well as
their ability to learn and reach their full potential in the classroom. No
student should be forced to learn on an empty stomach.
That’s why Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Ilhan Omar introduced
the Universal School Meals Program Act, a bill to establish universal

This bill would ensure every school-age child regardless of income
receives a free breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack every day at school
from pre-school through high school. It would also wipe away all existing
school meal debt, eliminating the shame and stigma associated with it.

Republicans, support permanent universal school meals. Urge Congress to
