For kids who rely on free meals at school, summer is the hungriest
time of year.

That's why we work so hard to improve summer meals programs and
feed more children during this critical season when they don't
have access to free meals at school.

And with the end of the school year only a few months away, we wanted
to explain just some of the steps we're taking to solve the
summer hunger crisis:

* We help families buy groceries and feed their kids during the
summer. Our Free Meals Finder

helps parents and caregivers find neighborhood sites that
provide free meals.
* We partner with celebrities like Ayesha and Stephen Curry to
help spread awareness about programs to feed more children in
the summer.
* We advocate to improve summer meals programs for kids, and our
efforts just helped secure $29 billion in new congressional
funding.

Through these initiatives and new federal programs that will expand on
them, we're going to be able to reach millions of children
during the summer months and take an incredible step forward in ending
the summer hunger crisis in the United States.

But, John, there is still so much
work to do. Right now, we need to do everything we possibly can to
help schools, community organizations and state agencies raise
awareness about summer meals programs and how to implement them before
the summer hunger pangs start.
