John,
One of the big successes from the legislative session last year was passing a bill to allow 16- and 17-year olds to pre-register to vote. The new law helps young people to think of themselves as voters even before they can actually vote - which means they are far more likely to make voting a lifelong habit.
To get the word out about this new law, Secretary Simon has visited nearly 30 schools around Minnesota with the goal of informing students about opportunities to vote.
In Minnesota, voting is a proud tradition. In the last three of four elections, Minnesota has led the nation in voter turnout and Steve wants to instill that tradition in the next generation of voters.
