Wild Voice: Born Free celebrates its 40th anniversary
Hello John,
A warm welcome to your very first issue of Wild Voice – our brand-new monthly newsletter, crammed with positive stories and key campaign reports.
We’re launching Wild Voice as part of a month of celebrations – Born Free turns 40 on 19th March! Our charity has been the voice for wild animals in need for four decades. With your support, we’ve become a global force for wildlife.
BORN FREE AT 40
WE WON'T GIVE UP, AND WE WON'T GIVE IN
Thanks to you, there’s been a lot to celebrate over the past 40 years. But, while animals still suffer and species are under threat, we can’t, and won’t, stop fighting.
From ending captive elephant and dolphin exploitation, to stopping grotesque hunting for ‘sport’, do you share our dream for a kinder future? Your gift today will help stop cruelty and keep wild animals safe.

LIONS ON THE MOVE
We’re thrilled that the relocation of big cat brothers Tsar and Jamil to their ancestral homeland of South Africa will soon be complete, thanks to your generous donations, and the support of our fantastic partners.
With a journey of over 8,000 miles to be made, it’s no mean feat, but our expert Rescue & Care team – who have rescued 111 other big cats in our 40 years – will be ensuring their welfare every step of the way.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED
How could anyone shoot an animal for fun, then hang their head on the wall? Born Free continues to fight the horrendous ‘sport’ of trophy hunting, but we need your help. Please ask your MP to support John Speller’s Bill to ban the import of hunting trophies into the UK.

NATURE WITHOUT BORDERS
What do elephants, albatrosses, turtles and gorillas have in common? They all migrate and they’re all under threat. Which is why we joined a key global wildlife meeting in Uzbekistan to find a way to protect them.

LIFESAVING BOMAS IN MERU
Our work in Amboseli, Kenya, to reinforce traditional ‘boma’ enclosures is a win-win to protect livestock and lions. Now we’re launching this tried and tested project in our Meru heartland – where the Born Free story began.

40 ways for YOU to help
To mark 40 years of Born Free, we’ve come up with 40 easy ideas for you to help wild animals, which we will be launching later this month. From sharing our social and signing petitions, to picking up litter and building a bug hotel - keep your eyes peeled for the full list to be announced soon!
With so much to celebrate, but also so much still to be done, we are more grateful than ever for your support. Together, let’s continue our 40 years of action for wild animals, and keep doing all we can to be a voice for the voiceless.
Thank you.
