Has Mississippi Turned Blue?

James Thomas, a self-professed far-left employee at Ole Miss, often betrays his lack of nuanced thinking through his musings, yet even he occasionally hits the mark. Last week, he posed a question to Mississippians that resonated deeply: "Did we turn Mississippi blue and just not know it?"

Regrettably, it seems James Thomas may have a point. Mississippi, under the guise of Republican leadership, appears to have embraced policies more aligned with liberal agendas.

Despite staunch resistance from Democrats, Mississippi has steadfastly refused to expand Obamacare to cover able-bodied adults. Other states' experiences have underscored the folly of extending free health insurance to those capable of working but choosing not to. Such policies not only prove prohibitively expensive but also undermine healthcare access for those truly in need.

However, the landscape has shifted in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Democrats masquerading as conservative Republicans have seized control, shedding their camouflage.

For those of us who've been vigilant over the years, this comes as no surprise. We've sounded the alarm about Delbert Hosemann and Jason White's true allegiances, only to be dismissed as obstinate troublemakers. After years of resistance, many of us relented, only to witness the new leadership force-feed Obamacare policies to Mississippians within two months of taking office.

The question now looms: What next?

Hopefully, the Republican establishment and influential stakeholders have recognized the validity of our warnings. Perhaps now, Mississippians will awaken to the imperative for change, abandoning blind loyalty to familiar faces.

The expansion of Obamacare in the Mississippi House unfolded without debate, scrutiny, or dissenting voices. None. It's a betrayal to the very people the legislature is sworn to protect. Any legislator complicit in this betrayal must face consequences at the ballot box. Remember, forgive not, forget not—they must be held accountable.
