Dear John,
🎶 Bills, Bills, Bills [[link removed]] 🎶
One of our favorite Destiny’s Child songs perfectly sums up how our month is going. As legislative sessions continue to heat up, Future Caucus legislators across the country are taking action, introducing bills, and working together across the aisle to get things done.
See what they're up to:
Meet Rep. Berny Jacques (R-FL)
"I got involved in public policy because I want to protect the freedoms and opportunities that I had growing up in the state of Florida,” Jacques said. “That experience came through the lens of a first generation American."
Fleeing political unrest in Haiti at the age of seven, Jacques and his family became the personification of the American dream. Today, as a Florida state legislator, Rep. Berny Jacques chooses to work across the aisle, passing a bipartisan juvenile justice educational reform bill with his colleagues during the 2023 legislative session.

On the Rise
Young legislators from the Alabama Future Caucus came together in Montgomery to speak with foster youth and hear about their experiences with the Department of Human Services (DHS). Some of the key issues discussed included sibling reunification, the limited amount of space in group homes, and efforts to combat bullying.
As a result of the discussion, lawmakers are already making inquiries with DHS and looking into their legislative oversight options.
