Women, and in particular women of color, have made huge strides in pushing our country forward, even if we weren’t celebrated for our talent, sacrifices, or accomplishments at the time. That’s why I’m so happy to celebrate Women’s History Month, especially as the ONLY Black woman representing the state of New York in Congress.
When women lead, we all win. Full stop. As a member of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, I know that this month is more than just an opportunity for reflection, it’s about re-asserting our fight for equality. I will never rest in my fight for women in Congress. From addressing Black maternal health and highlighting health risks that disproportionately affect Black women to fighting every day to defend abortion, I will ALWAYS stand for women and protect our fundamental rights.
One of the most important things we can do to defend women’s rights is to flip the House. Right now, we have an anti-abortion activist holding the Speaker’s Gavel, and we cannot allow that to continue!
Yvette Clarke is the ONLY Black woman representing New York in Washington. She has a known track record of bringing together moderates and progressives to pass progressive legislation to help communities of color, low-income families, immigrants, and more. If you'd like only the most important updates, you can opt for fewer emails here, but if you don't want to keep Yvette proudly representing Brooklyn, you can unsubscribe.
