| John, The House and Senate Appropriations Committee Leaders recently released the final bipartisan Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Act for 2024. The House of Representatives is expected to consider the bill on March 6, and now is the time to make our voices heard! Current appropriations run out on March 8. The THUD Appropriations Act is a critical piece of legislation that will determine public transportation investment for the fiscal year. This investment is vital for updating our transit systems, expanding service to underserved communities, and contributing to economic growth across the nation. Tell your representative to support the THUD Appropriations Act and invest in public transit! | The bipartisan THUD Appropriations Act provides the overwhelming majority of public transit and passenger rail investments authorized in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). It provides $20.9 billion for public transit, $16.3 billion for passenger and freight rail, and $3.8 billion for Capital Investment Grants (CIG) in FY 2024. Our members of Congress must come together to pass this bill, allowing necessary public transit investments to be delivered to communities of all sizes. As Voices for Public Transit, it’s important to raise our voices to lawmakers about the importance of properly investing in our nation’s public transit and passenger rail systems and keeping promises made in the IIJA. Urge Congress to support public transit investment by passing the THUD Appropriations Act (H.R. 4366, Division F)! It only takes a few minutes to send a message. Thank you for taking this important action. Voices for Public Transit | | | © 2024 Voices for Public Transit. All Rights Reserved. 1300 I Street NW Suite 1200 East Washington, DC xxxxxx | | |
