John,
Each day that passes, more innocent civilians are going hungry in Gaza as the Israeli military blocks most aid trucks from reaching those in need. Babies and children are now dying of starvation and dehydration, and countless more will face life-long mental and physical impacts of malnutrition.
At this point, the majority of Palestinians lack access to clean drinking water, over 90% of the population faces high levels of food insecurity, and experts from the World Food Programme to Doctors Without Borders warn a man-made famine is dangerously close.
In January, the United States cut funding for one of Gaza’s largest sources of aid, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) before Israel even provided any evidence to prove their claims.
Yesterday, it was reported that Canada would resume and increase funding for UNRWA after seeing the UN’s report on Israel’s allegations.
Every day that our country withholds this vital funding, more innocent people will die. That’s why Justice Democrats incumbents in Congress are leading the call for the U.S. to restore full funding to UNRWA as soon as possible.
As we continue to pressure the Biden Administration to stop military funding to Israel and do everything in its power to support a lasting ceasefire, this is another urgent step our government must take to prevent more senseless death and suffering of innocent people.
Thank you for making your voice heard,
Justice Democrats
