We’re NOT going to stand for this.

This is urgent: Late last week, a PA Republican Senator filed a Co-Sponsorship Memoranda in the Senate, stating his intention to add “mental competency” as a prerequisite for voter registration.
According to Stateline, tens of thousands of Americans with disabilities are stripped of their freedom to vote every year. Often, the decision to take away a person's civic rights is made without clear legal definition or standards, meaning that judges are left to decide if a person can or cannot vote.
Michelle Bishop, an advocacy specialist at the National Disability Rights Network, said it best: “Having a disability does not mean you are not competent to vote.”
This is another scare tactic to strip away voting rights, reminiscent of the Jim Crow era literacy tests designed to silence Black, Indigenous, and other people of color. We are NOT going to stand for it. Will you help us defend voting rights for ALL Pennsylvanians by rushing $25 or more immediately? ([link removed])
In solidarity,
Team NPP
The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) is a voting rights organization with a year-round primary focus on voter registration, civic education, and mobilization. NPP centers historically disenfranchised and often neglected Black, Indigenous and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth in our work. Through civic engagement, we ensure all eligible voters feel compelled to exercise their freedom to vote in the Commonwealth.
