Update: NIJ FY24 Graduate Research Fellowship [ [link removed] ]
NIJ has updated the FY24 Graduate Research Fellowship solicitation to clarify what degree programs are eligible to apply. Specifically, footnote 1 on page 6 has been removed. We would like to clarify that "Social Work "is considered a qualifying degree program field. Questions about whether a degree program qualifies under ?sciences or engineering? may be directed to the OJP Response Center.

NIJ seeks applications for the FY24 the Graduate Research Fellowship program, which provides grants to accredited academic institutions to support outstanding doctoral students whose dissertation research is relevant to criminal or juvenile justice. Applicant academic institutions are eligible to apply only if:
* The student is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in the sciences or engineering.
* The student?s proposed dissertation research has demonstrable relevance to preventing and controlling crime, advancing knowledge of victimization and effective victim services, or ensuring the fair and impartial administration of criminal or juvenile justice, in the United States.

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each step with its own deadline:
* Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov [ [link removed] ].
*Grants.gov Deadline: April 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET*
* Submit the full application, including attachments, in JustGrants [ [link removed] ].
*JustGrants Deadline: April 17, 2024 at 8:59 p.m. ET*
Applicants must register with Grants.gov [ [link removed] ] and JustGrants [ [link removed] ] prior to submitting an application.

The following application elements must be included in the application to meet the basic minimum requirements to advance to peer review and receive consideration for funding:
* SF-424 and SF-LLL (in Grants.gov)
* Proposal Narrative (in JustGrants)
* Budget Web-Based Form, which includes the budget details and the budget narrative (in JustGrants)
* Verification of Current Enrollment in a qualifying degree program.
* Undergraduate and Graduate Transcripts (official or unofficial).
* Statement of Support from the dissertation committee chair (or, if the student does not yet have a committee, the student?s faculty advisor, department chair, departmental director of graduate studies, or an individual with similar responsibilities)
* Biosketches, Curriculum Vitae, or Resumes for Key Personnel. (For purposes of this solicitation, ?key personnel? means the student and the person providing the Statement of Support.)
* Financial Management and System of Internal Controls Questionnaire, including applicant disclosure of high-risk status (in JustGrants).
