Hey John,
You've heard about Congress bringing us to the brink of a government shutdown, right? But I bet you haven't heard that one of the government funding proposals includes ... wait for it... $767 million in cuts to HIV funding! That's why we're rallying to #SaveHIVFunding today.
Use this simple tool to send a letter to your reps in three clicks. Then help us meet our goal of sending 7,000 letters by sharing this letter-writing action online and with your community. We even made a whole toolkit here with sample posts and more information.
$767 million in cuts is astonishing! Essential programs like the Minority HIV/AIDS Initiative and the Ryan White Program will be hit hard if we let these cuts go through. And that's not just government offices tightening their belts — that means many community health centers and local youth programming in your neighborhood get cut. Plus, half a million Americans (500,000!) living with HIV receive support in accessing treatment every year. To lose this crucial support would be devastating.
So let's make Day 3 of CommuniTEA's National Women & Girls HIV & AIDS Awareness Week focused on action! CommuniTEA is our program focused on centering Black women and girls in HIV prevention, treatment, destigmatization, and decriminalization. All of that work requires community health centers, local organizations, treatment programs, and more that receive this funding. Take action today, and use this toolkit to spread the word!
