Can I explain something, folks?

I'm about to ask you to add a donation to my campaign before our first end-of-quarter filing deadline during this all-important election year. But first, I wanted to say a quick thanks for supporting my team and our work.

I know these are not normal times and it would be wrong to pretend that they are, but just knowing you opened this email makes me so grateful to have you on the team. Thank you for everything. I promise to never stop fighting for you and your family.

Now, about why I'm emailing today...

Every quarter, candidates for federal office must file financial reports with the Federal Election Commission. It's a way of keeping politicians honest about who's donating how much to their campaigns. It's also a big test of campaigns' strength.

You see, the numbers we report on Tuesday will become public. Which means everyone from the TV pundits to news outlets to Washington Republicans and even our opponent will see the numbers we report.

The GOP is looking for any sign of weakness in our campaign, and we absolutely cannot give it to them. If we report low numbers, they'll think Colorado is ripe for the taking and send more attacks our way.

Our end-of-quarter deadline in three days is the biggest goal our campaign has faced so far. That's why I'm personally asking you to add a contribution of $10 or more to our campaign before Tuesday, if you can afford it.

Every dollar matters to me personally, and I'm so grateful to have you on the team. I know times are tough right now, but we'll get through this together.

Thanks for all you do,

John

P.S. We know this is a difficult time, so please take care of yourself and your loved ones and only pitch in if you can afford to do so. To pause our emails until this public health emergency has passed, fill out this form: [link removed]
