With the State of the Union just days away, we know abortion access is top of mind for us, you, and the majority of Americans. That includes Black men and other men of color. A new national poll shows Black men in particular strongly support abortion access and are solidly behind bold solutions to ensuring abortion care is affordable, available, and accessible. Here are some of the highlights:
More than 9 in 10 Black men (91%) oppose government interference in abortion decisions;
More than 6 in 10 Black men report paying attention to abortion issues;
About two-thirds of Black men favor proposed legislation that would protect people’s right to make their own healthcare decisions about abortion, improve availability and affordability of abortion care, and prevent elected officials from creating barriers to receiving abortion care (64%).
President Biden’s State of the Union is just around the corner, and as the abortion care crisis gets worse by the day, he must listen to the majority of us, including Black men, who support abortion access.
Restoring Roe v. Wade alone isn’t enough. We need President Biden’s full-throated commitment to not only ensuring abortion is legal, but his plan for ensuring abortion justice.
