Hi John,

The clock is ticking for the protection of the Owyhee Canyonlands; a one-of-a-kind, magical, and ancient place. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkely have laid the groundwork for the permanent protection of the Owyhee Canyonlands, and we now need President Biden to finish their work before the end of this year.

The Owyhee Canyonlands are one of Oregon’s most critical and vulnerable areas. Its protection or designation as a National Monument would safeguard significant historical, cultural, and recreational resources, and ensure responsible and balanced recreation. This would also further grow the region’s economy.

It is the largest conservation opportunity in the American West. We need to permanently protect the Owyhee from industrial development, climate change, unmanaged recreation, and more that are becoming increasingly aggressive threats to the area, as Oregon has one of the fastest growing rates in the West.

The Owyhee Canyonlands cannot wait any longer - after a three-decade-long effort to protect it - and with 80% of Oregonians in favor of designating this magical place a National Monument. Oregon’s wildlands are quickly disappearing, and by protecting the Owyhee now, we keep its natural wonder intact before it suffers irreparable damage.

It’s crucial that we show President Biden and Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkely how important it is to us that the Owyhee Canyonlands become a National Monument before it is too late. Help us send them a message now by signing this petition!

Thank you for advocating for the Owyhee Canyonlands!

Sincerely,

Britney VanCitters
