John,
Did you see the latest Politico article on AIPAC?
A handful of Republican billionaire mega-donors are using AIPAC to spend millions in Democratic primaries against Black and brown progressive incumbents, and they’re planning to spend an unprecedented $100 million this cycle. The entire Democratic Party should be united in opposition to this.
Former progressive U.S. Rep. Andy Levin, who lost his seat after AIPAC spent $4 million against him in 2022, told Politico, “Most candidates won’t be able to survive that spending barrage…I’m afraid that they can be quite successful in wiping them out.”
The article further points out, “AIPAC’s biggest targets are members of the so-called Squad of progressive House Democrats who have been openly pressuring the administration to call for a cease-fire. But AIPAC’s ambitions are broader. United Democracy Project, the group’s super PAC, is monitoring 15 to 20 House races and polling in many of those districts…”
This pro-war, anti-Palestinian, and GOP mega-donor dark money network threatens not just our progressive movement, but the Democratic Party as a whole.
We’ve gone up against AIPAC’s war chest before and won when we elected and re-elected progressive champions like AOC, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman. But we need your support now more than ever if we’re going to do it again.
Thanks for all you do,
Geoff Simpson
