BJS and the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) collaborated to produce a series of infographics using data from the 2019 National Survey of Victim Service Providers (NSVSP). The NSVSP collects data from a nationally representative sample of programs and organizations that serve victims of crime or abuse. It compiles detailed information about the victim services field, including the range of services provided to victims, the types of organizations referring victims to victim service organizations, and where gaps in services exist. The statistics shown in the infographics are from the BJS statistical report, Services for Crime Victims, 2019. ?
The NSVSP is part of BJS?s Victim Services Statistical Research Program (VSSRP). BJS initiated the VSSRP in 2013 to build knowledge about victim services by collecting and analyzing national data from victims and the diverse entities that serve victims in all states.?
The Bureau of Justice Statistics of the U.S. Department of Justice is the principal federal agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating reliable statistics on crime and criminal justice in the United States. Kevin M. Scott, PhD, is the acting director.
