Dear John,

In case you missed it, Heidi Przybyla, a Politico National Investigative Correspondent, recently stated on MSNBC that anyone who believes our rights are derived from God is a Christian Nationalist.

She said "The thing that unites them as Christian nationalists...is that they believe that our rights as Americans, as all human beings, don't come from any earthly authority. They don't come from Congress, they don't come from the Supreme Court. They come from God."

You can watch her full interview here:

This statement is unacceptable and reflects a complete lack of understanding or hostility toward the principles upon which this nation was founded.

Last week, in response to this claim that demonizes Christians and Christianity by portraying them as a distinct and, in her words, "extremist" threat to the country, Brian Burch, with Catholic Vote, and I wrote a letter to Politico asking that they and Ms. Pryzbyla apologize. Her statement reflects profound prejudice toward American Christians who merely exercise their rights as citizens to be involved in the political process, just like anyone else.

In response to our letter and public pressure, Pryzbyla released an article defending herself by saying that her statements were taken out of context: "Due to some clumsy words, I was interpreted by some people as making arguments that are quite different from what I believe."

That's hardly an apology. Christians deserve more from Politico than to be accused of "misinterpreting" what the journalist clearly said.

Rather than accept this fake apology, FRC is taking action. Starting today, FRC is running mobile billboards around Politico's offices in New York and Washington, D.C., demanding Politico stop their attack on religious freedom in America, which allows us to support and vote for candidates based upon our Christian faith.

Will you join us in these efforts and demand Politico truly apologize for this demonizing smear and sign our petition below?

Our goal is to gather thousands of signatures from like-minded believers just like you from across the country who will not let attacks -- like calling Christians "extremists" -- go unanswered.

This was not a one-off incident. This is the long-running pattern of the legacy media, which have routinely and openly displayed disdain for Christians who take their faith, as they should, into the public.

The primary target of this type of slander has always been and will always be Bible-believing Christians. They want to silence us and push us out of the public square by making us feel like we are alone in our so-called "extreme" views.

We at FRC will not bow down to their scare tactics. We are committed to standing firm for biblical truth no matter how much pressure we get from the Left.

Thank you for standing with us as we champion faith, family, and freedom in our nation and culture!

I, the undersigned, along with the Family Research Council, am outraged by the malicious smears made against the Christian faith by Heidi Przybyla. Her comments stand in opposition to my faith, and the fundamental principles of our great nation. I demand that Politico immediately apologize for these malicious lies and historical ignorance and stop attacking religious freedom in America.
