John, as we celebrate Women's History Month, I'm reminded of all of the strong women in my life who have helped shape me into the person I am today.

My mother taught me from an early age that I could do anything that I set my mind to. Being an optimist, I aimed high and worked hard to make her proud. Her love and guidance instilled in me the grit and determination that I look to in moments of hardship. And my wife, the mother of our four sons, is a rock for the ones she loves and fights hard for what she cares about. She inspires me every day.

I'm also thinking of the female trailblazers who led fearlessly in our country. From Shirley Chisholm being the first Black woman to run for president, to South Carolina's own Septima Poinsette Clark who was a driving force behind the Civil Rights Movement. Our country stands on the shoulders of strong women.

And John, we need to talk about the attacks against women in the past couple of years. Roe v. Wade has since been overturned, and extremist Republicans are hellbent on introducing a national abortion ban. Just recently, an Alabama court ordered IVF to be banned in their state – something my opponent also voted for in the House. These attacks are barbaric, and I'd do everything in my power to protect reproductive rights as Congressman.

It's important to me that folks across the Lowcountry have a leader who will fight tooth and nail for reproductive rights. If you agree, can I ask that you make a contribution to support our campaign? [[link removed]]

Wishing you a reflective Women's History Month,

- Michael
