Dear John,

In October, we announced the 2023 Bush Prize: Minnesota winners. Today, we’re thrilled to share our first winner spotlight of New Native Theatre.

Founded in 2009 by Navajo playwright Rhiana Yazzie, New Native Theatre is a Native-centered theatre company that reclaims storytelling for Native communities in ways that go beyond the stories themselves. At New Native Theatre, "it's not just art, it's our lifeways."

By creating authentic and transformative plays through the lens of the Native American experience, New Native Theatre creates a safe and innovative space for Native people to use the tools of theater to participate in storytelling.

Head to our website to read the full article and be sure to follow New Native Theatre to keep up to date on all their upcoming productions and workshops.

This spotlight is part of a series featuring our 2023 Bush Prize: Minnesota winners. Keep an eye out for upcoming spotlights featuring the other 2023: Bush Prize Minnesota winners.
