ACLU Supporter, today, millions of voters will go to the polls to vote in their state's
presidential primary.
Whether your state votes today or not, knowing your rights at the polls – and having a plan
to
vote – is critical. If you've already voted, feel free to share with friends in other
states.
Or, if your primary is still to come, save this email so you'll be ready no matter what.
Making Your Super Tuesday Plan
- First, find out what elections are happening in your area –
beyond just the
presidential primary! – and research what's at stake in any local or state primaries.
- If your area isn't voting today, check your state's election calendar so you're ready to go
– or, if you've already voted, check in with your friends and family in other states
so
they're prepared.
- Check your state's voter guidelines to confirm your polling location, ballot return
deadlines, any materials you might need to bring with you like state ID, and other details.
- If you're voting in person, make a plan – how are you getting to the polls? When are
you
planning to go vote?
- If you have a mail-in ballot that you have not returned yet, use a drop box or return it in
person if your state allows.
- If you are voting in person, pack a few essentials in case your line to vote is longer
–
like water, food, and entertainment.
Your Rights at the Polls
- If the polls close while you're still in line, stay in line. You have the right to vote.
- If you make a mistake on your ballot, ask for a new one.
- If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper ballot.
- If you run into any problems or have questions on Election Day, call the Election Protection

counted, no matter what.
Today's primaries will give us a clearer idea of what we can look forward to in November –
so
when you're done voting, keep updated on the election results and join the ACLU in preparing for
whatever comes next.
Onward,
